Many people play the game of poker because television has made it seem very easy to win. A guy or girl watches the WSOP or WPT and says, "Why can't that be me?" So they find their closest casino and buy in a tournament. They get their cards and play! As the game goes on they are losing chips, constantly! Next thing you know they are heading back to their car and cursing the game. They don't know how TV  made it look so easy! 

Those people lose to a number of reasons. Lack of experience and lack of knowledge. "But I know what hand beats what and what hands are good!" Great! You know what a monkey knows! But you fail to know the little things that helps people win!

So many people are looking for that extra edge or advantage to help them win. Whether it's countless hours reading poker books, or replaying hands that you watched on TV. Shoot, most people would just like to have x-ray vision or the ability to read people's minds but where is the fun in that? 

Here at Got 'Em Poker, we've got you covered with a few of our favorite things to improve your game!

Poker Apps

No we aren't talking about Zynga, WSOP, or WPT's play money poker apps. We are talking about apps that actually feed you information! Want to know the best part? They are FREE!!!

 One of our first apps we want to talk about is Poker Equity.  

In whatever store you get your apps from, look for this logo. Here in this app you are able to put in any hand combination and it will tell you your winning percentage against your opponent(s). Run some scenarios through their system and learn what kind of position you are in against other hands. With this app, you are able to get a feel of how you should bet on the turn when you have A-3 offsuit. The only downfall of this app is that you cannot put where you are positioned at.

Next, we have another app, Holdem Hand Strength

Again, look for this app in your app store. This is one of our favorite apps to use and study! With this app, you are able to select how many opponents you have (1-9) and then select the hand you are dealt. With the hand you are dealt, this app tells you your percentage of having the high card, hitting a pair, 2 pair, 3 of a kind, etc. It also tells you how many hands are worse than yours as well as how many hands are better. Every poker player, in our opinion, needs this app! By studying this app and knowing how to play each position, you will be a deadly force! In addition to the information, the best part of this app is its FREE!!!

Moving away from apps, we are going to talk about 

helpful tips.

4-2 Rule

This is a very simple rule that can help you tremendously when you come to the turn and river! The 4-2 rule is very simple. When the flop has landed and you feel like you are behind, all you have to do is take your outs, multiply them by 4, and that is the percentage the turn helps you. Once the turn hits, you take your outs again, and multiply them by 2. Again, this will tell you the percentage that the river will help your hand. This rule is helpful when you are heads up with someone and you are on some type of draw. In addition, this is helpful for if you have an idea what your opponent has! This seems like a common sense rule but you will be surprised how many people have never heard of this nor do they use it!
