The Poker Adventures of Frank-N-Steins: Episode 2

The Poker Adventures of Frank-N-Steins
Episode 2

Welcome back! Today we bring you another adventure that took place at the "fine" establishment of Frank-n-Steins Bar and Grill in Sugar Land,Tx. Again if you are unfamiliar with this please check out the previous blogs:

I will apologize now, during my time of playing there on this night, no fights broke out and no one tried to announce how much of a "man" they were. If you were looking for that, I am deeply sorry. Not this time...

Lets get rolling with it. So the game was to start at 8:00 PM and normally they are pretty sharp about this but on this night the game did not start until 8:15. This irritated a lot of people because they stated on their Facebook post "Come early and receive extra chips!" Due to the lateness of the host, no one received extra chips. In addition to the game starting late, the bar's air conditioner was not working. A bunch of sweaty drunks, sitting around each other at a poker table....Not delightful. Due to the A.C. being out, you could tell the bar's sales weren't going to be that good since everyone will probably be ordering more water than alcohol.

After every one signs in, there are a total of 40 people playing. A pretty good size so I was thinking the cash was going to be higher than usual....I thought wrong. Normally when I play where ever this company is hosting, there are about 16-20 people and the cash prize is $75 (1st $50, 2nd $25). With 40 people, it was only $100 (1st $75, 2nd $25). Meh, it's whatever. Shuffle up an deal! 5 tables are in action. The table I am at has a Drug Dealer, an Ex-Con, a quiet guy, a hefty guy, the guy who wears shades at night, and a lady who is friends with everyone.

First few hands are dead to me just because of lack of cards, so I watch everyone on their style of plays. The drug dealer is an extremely loose player and the Ex Con has no idea what he's doing. Let me be clear on how these two got their names. The Drug Dealer had a phone from 2000 and an iPhone 7.......And random people came up to him constantly asking if he had Strawberry Shortcake or some other code words weed. His response would be yes or let me check with my guy. The Ex Con openly talked with the drug dealer about an experience he had in prison. His tattoo was poorly applied so it means either prison, he was drunk and tried it himself, or he got talked into getting it from someone who had never done a tattoo before......More than likely from prison....

When the blinds were 1k/2k, player under the gun raises the pot to 20k. Drug Dealer calls and Ex-Con calls. Flop comes out whatever, player bets again, Drug Dealer folds, Ex-Con calls. Turn and River repeat the same actions. When the cards are flipped, the better has a full house, the Ex-Con has Jc2C with no clubs and no jacks or twos on the board. He then says "Damn! I was sure I had him!"
This goes on for a few hands and he actually got lucky and tripled his stack.

Due to getting a string of cold cards, I know I need to play to stand a chance of winning this thing. So I tell myself, 'Next hand, if it's decent, you are playing it!" Sitting on the dealer button, blinds are 2k/4k, I get Q-10 clubs and raise to 20K. SB (Drug Dealer) calls with everyone folding behind.

Flop: 8c 4c 3s.
SB checks and I bet 20k with him calling.
Turn: 3h
SB checks and, again, I bet 20k with him calling.
River: Ac
SB bets 60k and I call. He flips over pocket aces and I show my flush. He then says, "Why are you even in this hand?!" I say to him, "Because you let me be in this hand." From then on, the Drug Dealer was on tilt and was trying to get under my skin but it was not working. He eventually goes all-in and busted out.

Pay attention to this hand because there is actually a valuable lesson on this one.

Blinds are at 10k/20k. Two players are in preflop with 200k in the pot. We have Hefty Guy and the Friendly Lady.

Flop 3h 5h 4h
Checks from both of them
Turn: Jh
Checks again...
River is 6h
Checks again.

Hefty flips over and says he has the Ace high flush. Another player starts to push the chips towards him. The lady, is about to throw her cards away when another player tells her to show her cards. When she does, she looks at them again and goes "Oh crap! I have a straight flush!" She shows 7h 8h!

There are actually a few lessons you can take from this. First off, pay attention to what you have and what's on the board! Another lesson, always flip your cards over, even if you think you lost! At a casino, you won't be as lucky as this lady was. Probably even at home games, will someone be nice enough to tell you to flip your cards.

So to continue on with this lady... As the night goes on, she gets tired and hot (Still no AC). She just wins a pot of 400K (25k/50k) and announces to our table, "Guys I am hot and I am tired. I want to go home so call me if I bet!" Seems like a strategy to the others but I've played with her before. When she says this, call her and you will get paid, if your cards play right. So next hand she raises, preflop, and makes its 100k. Hefty calls her.

Flop: KOJ rainbow.
Hefty checks, she raises to 100K. Hefty calls.
Turn: 5h.
Hefty checks with her raising 100k again. Hefty looks at her and thinks about the hand...
" Just call! I want to go home!" says the lady. Hefty throws his cards away. She then says, "Why won't you let me go home?" She flips over 8s 4s. Hefty said he had a pair of jacks.

She eventually goes all-in with 9-2 offsuit and is called by 3 other players. Out of those three other players, 2 of them are also all-in. I don't remember the fall of the cards but the lady and another guy are knocked out, the chip leader wins a small side pot and another player wins the big pot. After these players get knocked out, we are down to 18 people.

I am sitting with like 3 BBs left. Just the coldest cards ever!!! I think through out the whole night I saw one pocket pair, 1 King with a 2d, 2 aces (A2 and A4). Other than that, it was complete crap cards. I was eventually forced in by the blinds with that A4 I mentioned, called by two others and I busted.

That's just the game goes sometimes. On to the next one!

I am heading to Mississippi this upcoming week. Hopefully another story can come from playing there. Also you can follow us on Instagram and watch our stories! Hope you enjoyed this blog. If so, like, share, and comment! As always, best of luck to you at the tables and in life!.
